Co-Chair

Gabrielle Bacon is a Co-Chair of The Moore Charitable Foundation, overseeing the grant portfolio in the areas of education, health and the arts. Gabrielle has a PhD in Land Economy (Environmental Sciences) from Cambridge University, UK where her research centered on human rights violations incurred by environmental degradation.

Actively involved in environmental protection on all levels, Gabrielle Bacon is a Board member of Peconic Baykeeper, which tackles local water pollution issues on Long Island, as well as on the US Board of ClientEarth, a global environmental organization. Dr Bacon was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for North America to the International Commission of the Voices of Future Generations Project Book Series, in partnership with UNESCO, which globally solicits and promotes children’s stories on UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Gabrielle Bacon serves on the Women’s Board of The Boys’ Club of New York, a 140-year-old organization which provides substantial after-school programs throughout Manhattan for boys in need of additional support. As well as being a Trustee of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University-Weill Cornell medical system, Gabrielle is also a part of Harvard Kennedy School’s Advisory Council to Dean Douglas Elmendorf and the Center for Public Leadership’s Leadership Council.

In the area of the arts at The Moore Charitable Foundation, Gabrielle Bacon pioneered the Artists-in-Residence Program, providing artists from all over the world with unique access and unrestricted freedom to paint landscapes in private conservation areas. The resulting artwork promotes the compelling importance of environmental protection. Prior to undertaking the development of the Moore Art collection, Gabrielle worked for a decade at Sotheby’s in London, UK, and at several galleries in the United States. By invitation, she is a member of the International Council of The Metropolitan Museum of Fine Arts. With her husband, Louis Bacon, she is a founding member of the new Parrish Art Museum on Long Island.

A graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Bacon received her Master of Philosophy in International Relations from Cambridge University, where her thesis focused on the International Court of Justice. She speaks fluent French, Italian and Spanish and has three children and four stepchildren.
