Stonewall, CO — Culebra Range Community Coalition (CRCC) today announced renewed support from Louis Bacon‘s Tercio Foundation for its Environmental Scholarship Program to help local graduating seniors attend college and prepare for careers in land and water conservation fields.
CRCC currently has 19 local students on scholarship, studying ways to protect and enhance the environment. The first scholarships were awarded in 2012 and the Tercio Foundation has provided support for the program since its inception.
“Culebra Range Community Coalition is an essential partner in the Trinidad community working to improve wildlife habitat, reduce the risk of destructive forest fires, and encourage youth to pursue conservation-related careers. We applaud their efforts and are honored to support the Environmental Scholarship Program,” said Ann Colley, Executive Vice President of The Tercio Foundation.
“We believe that investing in youth and the environment is a strong strategy for protecting and enhancing our beautiful natural landscape and being able to invest in bright local youth going off to college to study in any field that can benefit the environment is one way that we can do that,” said Tom and Linda Perry, Founders of Culebra Range Community Coalition.
This year’s Environmental Scholarship Program has also received support from the Ned and Betsy Cabot Foundation, the Purgatoire Valley Foundation and many local Trinidad citizens through their weekly contributions at CRCC’s “Coffee for Causes” booth at the Trinidad Farmers Market. All “Coffee for Causes” donations directly benefit the Environmental Scholarship Program.
